LEE'S Wall of DEATH!
Many years ago I had a display on the wall of my comic book store featuring comic book covers with the familiar pose of the hero holding up a fallen comrade. The most famous of these covers is probably Crisis On Infinite Earths by George Perez, which came out in the mid-1980s. It's interesting to note that there are many covers with a similar theme previous to that one.
I present here, a gallery on this theme, in chronological order, to help interested viewers see small and large changes in the details as time goes by. Some of the greatest and most famous artists, Jack Kirby, Neal Adams, John Byrne, Gil Kane, John Buscema, Joe Kubert, Nick Cardy and many others have contributed to this imagery, and some of these covers are among their best. Certain artists returned to that theme multiple times, often with great variety. There is much to love about this theme.
So far, we have discovered over 100 covers. If you have discovered a cover that fits into this theme, please submit it to Lee@Lcomics.com so that I can include it in an update. My goal is to create the most compete online gallery of "Wall of Death" covers as possible.
Thank you,
